1997 was a very special year for Rhodesian Ridgebacks: it was the 75th Anniversary of the Foundation of the RR Club of Zimbabwe, The Parent Club. The Parent Club founded the breed by drawing up the standard and by having the breed officially recognized. On the occasion of the 75th Anniversary, The PC organized two special events in Zimbabwe: the 75th Anniversary Championship Show in Harare, and the Historical Trip to the places where the people who contributed to the development of our breed lived. Eleven of us were on the trip, coming from different countries:The Historical Trip © (Copyright) 1998 by Sandra Piscedda

Linda Costa (Zimbabwe), her mother Jan Lloyd (Australia), Helle Lauridsen (Denmark), Amanda Bowen (Australia), Steph Potgieter (South Africa), George Withney (Zimbabwe), John Cassar (Australia), Orit Nevo (Israel), Jack Selby (UK), Rosy Brook-Risse (Germany), Sandra Piscedda (Italy). Many thanks are due to The Parent Club for organizing the Historical Trip and special thanks are due to Linda Costa for tracing back places and people, for organizing visits and meetings and, in particular, for sharing all that with us. As a breeder and a RR history enthusiast, the opportunity of being on the trip was unique and these pages follow the itinerary which led us to the places and to the history of RR to those places linked.
